Pilot Program Launches to Support International PhDs & MDs in Securing Careers
April 2nd, 2025
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SAINT JOHN: Envision Saint John: The Regional Growth Agency, in collaboration with key community partners, has launched the International Postgraduate Pilot Initiative - a groundbreaking program designed to help highly skilled newcomers with a PhD or MD from a non-Canadian institution secure meaningful career opportunities in the Saint John Region.
Despite their expertise and qualifications, many internationally trained professionals face barriers to employment in their respective fields. This pilot program aims to bridge the gap by offering customized career action plans, networking opportunities, and direct engagement with employers and community organizations. The initiative will select 10 participants for its 2025 cohort.
“Saint John is home to an increasing number of highly skilled international professionals, and we want to ensure they have the support and pathways needed to succeed in our region,” said Daniel Rito, Director of Population Growth and Workforce Development at Envision Saint John. “This initiative will help connect these talented individuals with resources, mentorship, and professional networks.”
The International Postgraduate Pilot Initiative is a collaborative effort between Envision Saint John, the University of New Brunswick, ConnexionWorks, WorkingNB, YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick, the Saint John Newcomers Centre, PRUDE Inc., and United Way Maritimes.
Key program benefits include:
- Tailored career action plans to enhance employability
- One-on-one career coaching and credential recognition support
- Industry workshops and networking events with local employers
- Opportunities for community engagement and leadership roles
Applications are now open, with a deadline of April 30, 2025. Interested candidates can learn more and apply here.
